Holly Hunter, an American actor and producer, is known for her acclaimed performances in movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Her work has been recognized with many awards for her performance and has even won an Oscar. At a young age she began playing on stage for various Broadway or Off-Broadway productions. Passionate about acting since her childhood, she performed Helen Keller in a play in fifth grade. Following a bout of Mumps, she was deaf on one side of her ear. But, it was not enough to stop her desire to become an actor. In college she studied theatre and later moved from Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City in pursuit of her dreams. In a chance encounter she was stuck in an elevator alongside the playwright Beth Henley and the two worked together on the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart that became Hunter's debut. Hunter made the move into Los Angeles and tried to get film roles. In Swing Shift, she landed an appearance as a supporting character. Her work spans over 30 years and she's appeared in numerous TV shows or series, as well as films. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and the Women in Film Lucy Award.
