Handler was 19 when she made the decision to relocate into Los Angeles and pursue acting. Handler was a professional actress to assist her. Handler, who was then at the age of 21, decided to focus on stand-up comedy as a full-time occupation following her discovery of storytelling. At the beginning of her career Handler started her professional career in the Oxygen network's all-female cast of a hidden camera/practical joke reality TV series Girls Behaving badly. From 2002 to 2005, the series aired. The handler then began appearing on other TV shows such as Weekends at the D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler began her professional career as a reporter on The Tonight Show. Handler received her first big break in 2006 when she began hosting her own show on E! The Chelsea Handler Program.
